Dr. Smith is a native of Columbia, Tennessee. He earned a BS degree from MTSU with a Biology Major and Chemistry Minor. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Memphis Dental School in 2003.

Dr. Smith and his wife Sue have one daughter named Resa. In his free time he enjoys reading, drawing, fishing, drumming, football, and video games.
